Belarus plans to organize its production facilities at idle capacities in Russia. This was reported to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the Council of Ministers by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, a BELTA correspondent reports.

According to the Prime Minister, some industrial enterprises have large warehouse stocks. This issue primarily concerns the Minsk Tractor Works, Atlant, and Belshina plants. As Roman Golovchenko explained, the existing stocks are not critical for MTZ, especially since a significant portion of the tractors have already been contracted.

A serious problem for Atlant has been the decline in demand in Russia for Belarusian refrigerators and freezers. This is due to both the generally low level of sales of durable goods in the country and the massive influx of new manufacturers into the Russian market, primarily from China. Atlant has decided to make a maneuver for now: to reduce the production of refrigerators and focus on the production of washing machines, which are currently in high demand.

Roman Golovchenko believes that, considering the situation in the development of Belarusian industry, it is necessary to move in two directions: not only to increase capacities within the country but also to organize new production facilities in neighboring states.

"We have probably missed the moment a little, because the capacities vacated by unfriendly countries are gradually being replaced by Russian and Chinese manufacturers. Together with the Ambassador to Russia, we have analyzed the capacities that are still available in Russia, currently abandoned, if one can say so. We need to select and actively enter these areas now in order to organize production, forming a profit center there and carrying out supplies of components and equipment from Belarus," said the Prime Minister.

"This is a strategy. We have discussed it, there is nothing new in it. Not only in Russia – wherever possible, we need to create our own capacities and production facilities if it is beneficial for us, and act," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.
