Today, a rally dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia was held at the memorial to Hero of the Soviet Union Yegor Andreyevich Tomko in Miory.
Representatives of labor collectives and students of the Miory Secondary School named after Yegor Tomko gathered to honor the memory of the renowned fellow countryman, to recall the heroic feat of Yegor Tomko, a man who shared his fate between two countries.
The Chairman of the District Council of Deputies, Valeriy Drabo, noted that the holiday—the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia—has become a symbol of brotherhood and spiritual kinship, as well as the inseparable bond between the fates of Belarusians and Russians. The feat of Hero of the Soviet Union Yegor Andreyevich Tomko serves as a vivid confirmation of this.
