During a working visit, Minister of Agriculture and Food Yury Horlov and Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Andrey Bulavkin visited a number of agricultural enterprises in the Miory district.
The progress of the harvest was assessed at the "Povyate" branch and the SUP "Cheresy".
Half of the district's farms will complete the harvest by Monday, with the remainder finishing next week. Concurrently, soil preparation and sowing of winter crops are underway, harvesting of household plots is being carried out, and seed and feed grain are being cleaned. "We need to get used to constant weather surprises," Minister Yuri Gorlov instructed agricultural workers. "Focus on sowing so that harvesting does not disrupt it. Winter crops should account for approximately 70 percent of the grain crop area."
He also advised prioritizing winter barley, which yields well under local conditions. He reminded attendees of the use of deep soil tillage technology. He further emphasized that those who do everything possible to preserve the harvest should be duly recognized.
