Today, a memorial rally titled "Remember to Live" was held at the mass grave of civilians, marking the 83rd anniversary of the mass execution of Jews in Miory during the Great Patriotic War.
The rally was attended by the district leadership, representatives of labor collectives from the district center, and youth.
Chairman of the District Executive Committee Alexander Yarokhnovich noted: Today, together, we commemorate one of the most horrific atrocities of the fascist occupation regime – the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. The Nazi policy of genocide and scorched earth in Belarus resulted in the loss of approximately 3 million human lives. The Miory region also fully shared the heavy burden of the war years. Here lie 758 innocent people. We must remember this so that such a tragedy is never repeated.
A minute of silence was observed in memory of the deceased, and flowers were laid at the foot of the burial site.
We remember the past for the sake of the future!
