Today, a rally was held at the memorial sign of Hero of the Soviet Union Yegor Andreyevich Tomko in the town of Miory, dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia and the 17th anniversary of the death of E.A. Tomko.
Representatives of work collectives and students of the Miory Secondary School named after Egor Tomko gathered to honor the memory of their renowned compatriot and to recall the heroic feat of Egor Tomko, a man whose fate was divided between two countries. Deputy Chairman of the Miory District Executive Committee Evgeny Nikolaenok noted that the holiday – the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia – has become a symbol of brotherhood and spiritual kinship, reflecting the inseparable closeness of the fates of Belarusians and Russians. The heroic deed of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Egor Andreyevich Tomko, serves as vivid proof of this.
