The special comprehensive campaign "Attention – Children!" will start in the country on August 25 and will last until September 5.

The objective of the event is to prevent child road traffic injuries.

Summer is over, and children are gradually returning from vacation spots and rural areas to the city. Having grown accustomed to lighter traffic, they often find themselves in dangerous situations on the road. At the same time, stark statistics remind us that August is the most dangerous month for road accidents involving children. The State Automobile Inspectorate earnestly urges parents to ensure the safe transportation of children. A child in a vehicle must be secured in a special restraint system appropriate for their weight and height. Car seats or boosters must be properly installed in the vehicle. Children over 12 years of age must be fastened with standard seat belts. It is also advisable to remind young pedestrians and cyclists of safe behavior rules, including in courtyards, monitor teenagers' leisure activities, and keep car and motorcycle keys out of easy reach.

Dear parents! Remind young road users that it is forbidden to suddenly step out or run onto the road from behind parked cars, trees, bushes, or structures, even if the road is located on territory adjacent to residential buildings. Before a child steps onto the roadway, they must stop, look around, and ensure that there are no vehicles approaching from their direction.

It is very dangerous to walk around a parking vehicle in close proximity to it, because due to their small stature, children may not be visible to the driver. Riding rollerblades and skateboards is permitted only in courtyards, squares, or parks, on special asphalt and concrete surfaces, paths, and alleys, but always at a safe distance from vehicles and large crowds of pedestrians. Children under 14 are prohibited from riding bicycles on public roads, and those under 16 are prohibited from driving mopeds.

Drivers should be aware that 70% of road traffic accidents involving children occur due to adult negligence. Therefore, upon seeing children near the roadway, reduce your speed and be prepared to stop at any moment. In courtyards, drive at a minimum speed.

During the period of SKM, according to paragraph 166.9 of the Traffic Rules, drivers are required to travel during daylight hours with low-beam headlights or daytime running lights turned on in their vehicles. Failure to comply with this requirement of the Traffic Rules entails administrative liability under Part 3 of Article 18.13 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus.

On August 30, officers of the State Automobile Inspectorate will hold a Unified Road Safety Day titled "To the New School Year – Safe Roads for Everyone!", aimed at preventing child road traffic injuries ahead of the start of the academic year. The State Automobile Inspectorate urges drivers to exercise extreme caution when driving near educational institutions, uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, public transport stops, and in residential courtyards.
