Приглашаем принять участие в международной экологической акции "Час Земли - 2024"

We invite you to participate in the international environmental campaign "Earth Hour 2024"

On March 30, the annual public campaign "Earth Hour" will be held for the 16th time. All concerned individuals are invited to participate in the campaign and switch off the lights for one hour from 20:30 to 21:30!

Switch off the lights for one hour – show care for the planet!

Switching off the lights for one hour is very simple, yet this symbolic action offers the opportunity to help the planet by changing daily habits. Turning off the lights for one hour helps reduce harmful emissions into the Earth's atmosphere and enables every concerned individual to contribute to energy conservation and the preservation of our planet's climate. The goals and objectives of the campaign are aimed at drawing public attention to energy conservation and environmental issues, and align with the policy pursued in the republic to enhance energy efficiency and foster a mindset of thrift and frugality in society.

The Vitebsk Region, like the entire Republic of Belarus, is not standing aside. Each year, enterprises, institutions, and organizations join the campaign. Traditionally, educational and cultural institutions of the region participate most actively. They organize drawing and poster contests, themed discotheques, informational lectures, and book and illustration exhibitions.

In support of the campaign in Vitebsk and the Vitebsk Region, the lighting of administrative buildings, decorative lighting of advertising displays, outdoor lighting, and lighting in storage and utility rooms of educational, healthcare, and cultural institutions, as well as in trade and manufacturing enterprises, will be switched off for one hour.

Residents and employees of organizations are joining the campaign. As this is a voluntary initiative, individuals themselves decide how many and which electrical appliances to switch off. Switching off the lights for one hour is very simple. Yet, behind this symbolic action lies the opportunity to help the planet.

For safety reasons, it is not recommended to switch off street lighting, aeronautical navigation lights, and traffic signals.

Show care for your Earth!

How? For example, by using electricity and heat efficiently, treating water carefully, and choosing to recycle paper and other materials, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
