Festival of the Folk Calendar "Farewell to Winter" in Miory
The lively and festive "Maslenitsa" celebration took place today on Lenin Square in Miory.
As part of the festivities, a theatrical performance with interactive elements was held, prepared by specialists of the Miory Center of Culture and Folk Arts.
Songs, dances, folk rounds, games and contests sparked interest not only among children, but also among adults.
Folk pastimes and cheerful, spirited laughter enhanced the Farewell to Winter celebrations and added a special touch of merriment to the folk gatherings.
Performances at the stage venue continued with vibrant shows by the folk folklore ensemble "Yazynka" and the vocal ensemble "Disenchuki", which were warmly received by the audience.
Daring participants successfully scaled the Maslenitsa pole and received valuable prizes.
Throughout the festive day, exhibition sales of handicrafts by folk artisans and interactive zones were open to all guests, alongside sports-and-game competitions and master classes.
Furthermore, no Maslenitsa celebration would be complete without sampling pancakes and hot tea. Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy grilled meat skewers, fish soup, and other refreshments.
The climax of the celebration was the burning of a straw effigy, with which, according to folk belief, all hardships, illnesses, and sorrows are burned away.
All attendees, without exception, departed in high spirits!
