Meeting with elders of Miory District and representatives of district services
On February 8, 2024, in the meeting hall of the Miory District Executive Committee, the chairmen of the Disna City and Rural Councils of Deputies, elders of rural settlements and the city of Disna, as well as officials of district organizations and services directly involved in ensuring the vital activities of settlements gathered, as the topic of the meeting was dedicated to issues concerning the provision of vital activities for the population of the Miory District.
The Chairman of the Miory District Executive Committee, Sergey Olegovich Semyonychev, participated in the meeting of representatives of local self-government bodies.
At the opening of the event, the Chairman of the Miory District Council of Deputies, Valery Anatolyevich Drabo, noted that settlement elders serve as the primary assistants to the city and rural executive committees and the council of deputies in their work with the public. Experience demonstrates that it is precisely the work of the elders that enables the prompt resolution of the most pressing settlement issues. The primary objective of the elders is to improve living conditions for residents, ensuring that current matters concerning the vital functions of a settlement or individual citizens are addressed promptly and with due attention.
Currently, 109 elders are active in the district (100 in rural settlements and 9 in the city of Disna). The majority of them possess established experience in collaborating with Councils of Deputies and executive committees, as well as socio-economic organizations, in addressing local-level issues.
During 2022–2023, the elders actively participated in the improvement of settlements, mobilized residents to conduct voluntary cleanup days both within settlements and at civilian cemeteries and military burial sites. They were also engaged in preventive measures to deter violations, promoted the rational use of land, organized yard competitions as part of the regional ecological festival «Журавы і журавіны Міёрскага краю», facilitated street and village festivals, and assisted in livestock censuses.
At the event, senior officials of the district executive committee and district services addressed the attendees on issues such as land improvement and maintenance of order, compliance with sanitary requirements and the epidemiological situation concerning infectious diseases, pension provision, observance of land legislation, fire prevention and fire safety in the residential sector, as well as measures to strengthen public order and ensure safety at bodies of water.
In turn, chairmen of rural councils of deputies and elders of rural settlements had the opportunity to directly discuss all questions of interest to them and voice problems concerning the population.
At the conclusion of the event, V.A. Drabo, Chairman of the Miory District Council of Deputies, expressed gratitude to representatives of local self-government bodies for their work and for their assistance in addressing important and pressing issues facing the district's residents, and awarded Honorary Certificates of the Miory District Council of Deputies and letters of appreciation from the Chairman of the Miory District Executive Committee to eight outstanding village elders. Sivko (agro-township of Povyatye of the Povyat rural council), V.D. Milyanovich (agro-township of Cheresy (Sadovaya, Vesennya streets, Sadovy lane), villages of Litovchiki, Zakharne, Bosyaniye, Silovo of the Miory rural council), V.M. Babinsky (villages of Kukharonki, Malinovka, Kovzany, Dvoritsa of the Zauteye rural council), R.E. Sedlovskaya (villages of Arkhanovo, agro-township of Nikolayevo (Tsentralnaya, Sadovaya, Zarechnaya streets) of the Nikolayevo rural council), Z.S. Pirog (villages of Drihuchi, Khomichi of the Turak rural council), N.F. Morchat (villages of Basyanki 3, Nemirovo, Balai, Ovechki, Kobyaki of the Yazno rural council), T.N. Paradya (Chapayev, Disnenskaya, Chkalova, Polotskaya streets, Chapayev lane of the city of Disna).
