What penalties does a citizen face for violating the rules governing traffic safety on railway or urban electric transport?

— The railway is a high-risk zone. It is prohibited to stand close to the platform edge when a train is approaching, to approach carriages before the train has come to a complete stop, to crawl under rolling stock, to approach broken wires, or to jump from a passenger platform onto the tracks. Tracks should be crossed only in strictly designated areas.

In accordance with Article 18.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of rules ensuring the safety of traffic on railway or urban electric transport), the following types of administrative penalties are provided for:

Placing objects on railway or tram tracks that may cause disruption of railway or urban electric transport traffic,

shall entail a fine in the amount of two to ten basic units.

Damaging railway or tram tracks, protective forest plantations, snow protection barriers, or other track facilities, structures, and signaling and communication devices shall entail a fine in the amount of twenty to fifty basic units.
Violation of rules for the passage of horse-drawn vehicles and driving of livestock across railway tracks, or grazing of livestock near railway tracks, shall entail a fine in the amount of one to ten basic units.
Walking on railway tracks or being on railway tracks in places not intended for crossing them shall entail a fine of up to two basic units.

The predominant causes of injuries on railway tracks are failure to observe basic personal safety measures: talking on mobile phones and using headphones while on the tracks, ignoring acoustic and visual signals, and attempts to take selfies with railway rolling stock.

Stopping a moving train is not easy. Depending on numerous factors, its braking distance can reach 1,000 meters. It must be taken into account that a train traveling at a speed of 100–120 km/h covers 30 meters per second, while a pedestrian requires at least 5 to 6 seconds to cross the railway tracks.

Do not violate safety rules when at railway transport facilities. Stop a companion who disregards the danger and risks their life.
