Povyatskaya Secondary School has been named after Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Babichev
On May 12, a solemn ceremony was held at Povyatskaya Secondary School to confer upon the educational institution the name of Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Alekseevich Babichev. The leadership of the Miory district, Deputy of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Sergei Gromadko, and representatives of the Polotsk Border Detachment participated in the commemorative events.
Participants in the rally in the village of Tychy paid tribute to the memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Viktor Alekseevich Babichev, who lost his life during the liberation of the Miory district from German-fascist invaders, and laid wreaths and flowers at the base of the memorial sign dedicated to him.
The Chairman of the Miory District Council of Deputies, Valeriy Drabo, presented a certificate confirming the conferral of the Hero's name upon the educational institution.
In a solemn setting, a memorial sign dedicated to Viktor Babichev was unveiled on the school grounds.
A real gift for the teachers, students, and guests of the celebration was the performance by the military orchestra of the Polotsk Border Detachment.
