Miory Regional Executive Committee
The consumer market of the Vitebsk Region is characterized by stability and high product availability, with sales growth recorded for the majority of product categories tracked by statistics. This assessment was presented at a meeting of the Collegium of the Main Directorate of Trade and Services, attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, as well as representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade and the State Control Committee.
The agenda covered the results of the sector's operations for the first nine months of the current year. Many indicators prove encouraging. For instance, our region continues to hold a leading position among the regions of the Republic in the share of Belarusian goods in retail turnover, accounting for 63.1%.
– A positive trend has been observed in the growth rate of retail turnover across all distribution channels, reaching 105.4%. On a per capita basis, it amounted to 6.6 thousand rubles. The growth rate of food service turnover stood at 102.9%, – explained Alexey Bogachev, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of Trade and Services of the Regional Executive Committee.
According to data from the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the consumer price index for the region in September 2025 compared to December 2024 was lower than the national average, standing at 105.7%. Our region leads the country in the effectiveness of control and analytical activities regarding compliance with price and pricing legislation. This undoubtedly contributes to maintaining a stable price environment in the region.
A well-developed infrastructure has been established in the region, comprising over 13,000 retail facilities of various formats, 79 shopping centers, 51 markets, and more than 1,800 food service establishments.
– Significant attention is devoted to serving the rural population. Continuous work is being carried out to reduce the load on the consumer cooperation system by involving other economic entities in trade organization. At present, 256 consumer cooperation stores and over 700 retail outlets operated by legal entities and individual entrepreneurs function in rural areas. In the absence of regional consumer society enterprises, residents of the Braslav, Orsha, and Sharkoushchyna districts, as well as certain territories of the Vitebsk, Postavy, Rasasony, and Taloichyn districts, are served by mobile shops operated by other economic entities. The issue of transferring trade servicing functions for the rural population to republican retail chains is under ongoing consideration, taking into account the provisions of Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 294, – noted Alexey Bogachyov.
At the collegium, attention was given to regions that have not yet utilized their reserves for the development of the sector, improvement of service quality, and enhancement of performance indicators.
As a result of the collegium meeting, priority tasks have been identified for all city and district executive committees that must be completed by the end of the year.
