On the eve of the new school year, a holiday featuring back-to-school gifts and entertainment was held in Vitebsk, aimed at supporting fathers raising children on their own. The event was organized by the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the "Belarusian Union of Women" with the support of partners.
Families from all corners of the Vitebsk Region attended the event. Each head of household received a certificate for purchasing school supplies and treats from BSJ partner enterprises. Additionally, the organizers prepared a rich program for children and fathers: musical performances, sweet snacks, a soap bubble show, face painting, and photo zones. The costumed characters and quad bikes particularly delighted the children.
The Belarusian Union of Women cares not only for children and women, but also for single fathers, noted Natalya Neusheva, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the BSJ:
— It is important for us to pay attention to everyone. Such events provide an opportunity to meet, communicate, and share experiences.
State officials and businesses joined the initiative. Irina Levkovich, a member of the Council of the Republic, provided personal support. She thanked the fathers for their courage and care for their children. Among the partners was the Orsha Meat Processing Plant, which provided families with baby food sets.
Viktor Gryadyushko from the Sharkoushchy District, who is raising two sons, shared his impressions:
— Today, it is interesting here for both me and the children; this is our first time at such an event. Of course, it is difficult to make ends meet with two children on one salary. State assistance for loss of a breadwinner significantly improves the situation. The certificate will also ease the financial burden ahead of September 1. Overall, it is pleasant to receive attention and gifts.
The holiday became one of the first in a series of planned events for the BSJ charity marathon in observance of the Day of National Unity, which will continue until the Week of Parental Love. Its main goal is to provide additional care and support to all families in need.
