State Institution "Vitebsk" gathered more than a thousand education sector workers from across the Vitebsk region. On the eve of the new academic year, the traditional regional August conference was held, at which the results of the past academic year were reviewed, tasks for the upcoming one were set, opinions were shared, and experience was exchanged.
Head of the Main Department of Education of the Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Khoma emphasized that the next five-year period in Belarus will be dedicated to quality, starting with the Year of Improvement, whose goal is to enhance the quality of life of citizens. He noted that investments in education create long-term positive effects for the economy, health, and social stability. This year, two new kindergartens opened in Vitebsk and Novopolotsk, construction is also ongoing in Vitebsk, Lepel, and Orsha, and a family-type children's home is being built in Glubokoye.
Note "VV". More than 92 million rubles have been allocated for capital repairs and strengthening the material and technical base of educational institutions.
The head of the department drew attention to the importance of ensuring safety in educational institutions. 11 million rubles were directed toward these purposes. He noted that the delivery of 30 new school buses has been carried out to update the fleet.
– We must ensure the safety of students in educational institutions based on a comprehensive approach, improve the technical equipment of educational institutions with modern security systems, ensure control over the quality and safety of students' meals, organize the transportation of children strictly in accordance with legislation, – stated Dmitry Khoma.
Raising worthy citizens and patriots is a priority task. The head of the main department thanked all those involved for their systematic approach to civic-patriotic and spiritual-moral upbringing of youth.
– Work with society is taking center stage. In the new academic year, it is necessary to interact more actively with the parent community, – he concluded.
The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, emphasized the importance of the issues discussed at the conference, noting that the formation of a harmoniously developed personality and the training of qualified personnel for the economy are key areas of Belarus's state policy.
The head of the region noted that a solid legal framework has been established in the country for effective career guidance and vocational training. He called on educators to help children align their abilities with labor market demands.
– It is important to remember that career guidance work should include fostering a respectful attitude toward labor, – he added. – Understanding the prospects for professional development is an important incentive for targeted training and retaining personnel at entry-level positions.
Alexander Subbotin pointed out the need for more active fulfillment of the requests of regional universities for training applicants in engineering disciplines, as well as in zootechnics and veterinary medicine. The effectiveness of specialized classes should become an indicator of the quality of career guidance work in educational institutions.
– Parents, children, and educators must understand that selection for a specialized class is a statement of the student's professional intentions, – the head of the region noted. – A formal approach to the establishment and operation of such classes needs to be reconsidered. At least 50 percent of graduates must enter higher education according to their chosen specialization.
Engaging youth in labor is a strategic task that addresses not only employment issues but also the prevention of offenses. Alexander Subbotin emphasized the importance of involving adolescents on various types of registers from low-income and large families in employment. He expressed satisfaction that this year it was possible to significantly increase indicators of juvenile employment in cooperation with the committee and departments for labor and social protection.
At the August conference of educators, they were thanked for their work and the achievements of their talented students, certificates of honor and letters of appreciation were presented, as well as monetary vouchers for improving the material and technical base of educational institutions.
