Miory Regional Executive Committee
The competition aims to support innovative and socially significant ideas in the fields of urban environment, youth policy, volunteering, architecture, creativity, sports, and others. Its organizers are the Regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies and the Youth Council under the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies.
In total, more than 30 youth projects from cities and districts of the region were presented. Participants faced a challenging task: to present their project within just three minutes and convince the expert jury, headed by Dmitry Demidov, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, that their initiative was the best.
"This is the first project designed to give our most active young people the opportunity to demonstrate themselves and express their ideas regarding the development of their local communities," Dmitry Demidov noted. "We did not limit the scope of initiatives so that young people could fully realize their potential and talents, convey their vision of regional developments, submit proposals aimed at improving work with youth, and feel like active participants in the processes unfolding in our region."
The works submitted to the competition covered various aspects of life, but most importantly, they were all developed with great care and commitment, aiming to improve people's lives, implement ideas for urban improvement and preservation of historical memory, and create conditions for sports and recreation. Youth from Vitebsk, Orsha, Tolochin, Senno, Shumilino, Dubrovno, Glubokoe, Miory, Dokshitsy, Beshenkovichy, and Rasson, of course, applied modern technologies and knowledge while "designing the future."
Consequently, the jury faced a difficult decision, but ultimately three winners were announced who will receive funding of up to 6,000 rubles from the Regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies. These are the projects "Pedal for Health and a Clean Planet" (Tolochin), "Freedom of Creativity Without Age and Borders" (Dokshitsy), and "Creating a Relaxation Room" (Bohushevsk urban-type settlement, Senno District).
– You have energized us with your enthusiasm, – Dmitry Demidov noted while summarizing the competition. – The winners have been selected, but many ideas presented here have been noted for future implementation. I am confident that in the future, not only these three projects will be brought to fruition.
– To be honest, we did not expect to win at all, – said Anna Kulik, Deputy Head of the Architecture and Construction Department of the Tolochin District Executive Committee. – Our project focuses on developing an eco-trail and establishing a bicycle rental service. This is precisely what our city truly needs.
