Miory Regional Executive Committee

The Vitebsk region hosted the “Victory March”, which set off from Moscow at the end of June.

The event was organized by the Republican Public Organization “Patriots of Belarus” and the Belarusian Athletics Federation, with the support of the republican state-public association “Presidential Sports Club”. Dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the initiative aims to preserve historical memory, foster patriotism, and strengthen the unity of the peoples of Belarus and Russia. A delegation from the Russian Federation arrived at the “Rylenki” memorial complex in the Dubrovna District, where they were joined by Belarusian patriots. A solemn rally was held at the site commemorating more than 10,000 Red Army soldiers.

– The international “Victory March” launched on June 28 from Moscow, where approximately 2,000 participants began a foot march covering around 50 km. The route traverses various locations throughout the Russian Federation. A large number of people have joined us along the way. Having reached the Republic of Belarus today and crossed the border, we have established a record for the Russian Federation as the longest pedestrian relay in history, – said Anatoly Abalikhin, Executive Director of the interregional public movement “Kuznitsa Zdorovya”, to journalists.

The next stop in the Vitebsk region is the mass grave of soldiers who liberated the Tolochin district in the urban-type settlement of Kokhanovo.

The “Victory March” will conclude at the Brest Fortress. Participants in this large-scale campaign are transporting a water canteen to this location.

– At the starting point in Moscow, it was handed over by a war veteran and Hero of the Russian Federation. During wartime and to this day, water remains a symbol of life. This water canteen has walked with us across all of Russia and will also traverse all of Belarus. At the memorial complex, the monument on the Alley of Heroes in the Brest Fortress will be sprinkled with water from it, – noted Anatoly Abalikhin.

Belarusian participants of the “Victory March” will also carry the water canteen, filled from a holy spring in the Dubrovna District, to the legendary city of Brest. The “Belarusmobil” vehicle will accompany the column of athletes.
