Miory Regional Executive Committee
The Regional Action Plan for the Year of Improvement includes numerous work campaigns and task forces aimed at improving memorials, memorial and landmark sites, and greening the territories of populated areas. Repair and development of the street and road network, parking lots and parking spaces, as well as sports and children's playgrounds will continue. Key priorities include ensuring the operation of water supply systems, bringing unused land plots into economic use, and restoring order at production facilities. The initiated and upcoming initiatives were discussed at the press conference "Improvement with a Focus on Quality" held at the Media Center of the Vitebsk Region.
Improvement is a common cause that requires mobilization from everyone. Only together can we create and preserve a comfortable, cozy, and beautiful living environment around us.

The currently ongoing Month of Improvement in the Vitebsk Region will conclude with a republican cleanup day. The funds raised will be transferred to the construction of the National Historical Museum of Belarus.
The opening of the Flag and Coat of Arms Square in the regional center will take place within the framework of celebrations for the Day of the State Flag, State Emblem, and State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus.
In commemoration of Orsha's nomination for the CIS honorary title "City of Labor Glory. 1941 – 9545", the square and the stele "Orsha – City of Labor Glory" will be improved.
Scheduled through December
– A schedule has been approved for the improvement of landmark sites in the region – at least one per month, – reported Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Petrusha. – It covers the period through December. The activities are aimed at greening territories, developing parks and squares, improving memorial sites and recreational zones – eco-trails and springs.
For instance, in spring, a square will be established in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in Chashniki, and a park with an Alley of Memory will be created on the Mound of Glory in the Glubokoye district. Hundreds of trees will be planted at the "Fifth Regiment" memorial complex in Vitebsk, and in June a monument will be unveiled there in memory of the victims of the genocide of the Belarusian people. In May, a monument will be installed at a military burial site in Paule village, Ushachy district…
This is a baseline plan that may be supplemented with additional activities during its implementation.
The Vitebsk region will not limit itself to the spring all-republican cleanup day. Throughout the year, such events will be organized at all levels, from regional down to district and municipal.
Cooperation invited
– We plan to carry out repairs on 1.3 million sq. m of roads, which is nearly 30 % higher than the actual figure for 2023, – Yuri Dyadyo, Head of the Main Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Regional Executive Committee, outlined tasks regarding the street and road network of settlements. – We will replace 13.7 thousand LED luminaires. This will yield energy savings of 50-60 % and provide improved lighting.
In the region, plans include constructing 11 new water deironization stations, 195 mini-stations, as well as equipping 25 and repairing over 280 children's sports and playground facilities.
Many residents of multi-apartment buildings are willing to participate in maintaining the territory around their homes. Utility services are prepared to support them by providing work equipment, soil, transport, and planting stock. To coordinate cooperation, project initiators may contact their respective housing maintenance offices.
Eco-watch is active
– The plans for the Year of Improvement in the northern region are ambitious: the planting of 30,000 trees, 28,000 shrubs, and 3.5 million flower seedlings is scheduled, noted Anna Galuzo, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Protection. – All districts have actively engaged in the work. A Unified Greening Day will take place. It is time to rejuvenate the trees planted in residential courtyards by representatives of the wartime and postwar generations.
Creating a favorable living environment involves more than just planting greenery. It entails organizing environmental campaigns, including those involving public ecologists: "Let's Do It", "Clean Forest", "Clean Water Body".
Efforts are being intensified to prevent the emergence of and eliminate unauthorized dumpsites, curb the burning of dry vegetation, and ensure compliance with operational regulations in water protection zones and coastal strips.
Based on Citizen Proposals
– The most important and valuable feature of citizen initiative projects is that their authors and implementers are the citizens themselves, noted Ekaterina Lazovskaya, Director of the Executive Directorate of the Regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies. – All of them carry public significance, and 90% are related to improvement activities.
In 2024, 23 projects were submitted to the association for review, 16 were selected as the best, and they have already been implemented at the local level. In 2025, 64 projects were presented, 15 of which will receive funding amounting to approximately 400,000 rubles for implementation. The exact list will be announced in the coming days.
Transformation Locations
– The district administration has resolved to assign organizations to manage lands of common use, rural councils, and military cemeteries, reported Inna Khomutovskaya, Chair of the Orsha District Executive Committee. – Ten key locations have been designated for district-wide cleanup events. These include Heroes Park, Coat of Arms and Flag Square, Yakubovsky Park, and the beach in the urban-type settlement of Kopysh.
Improvement measures will cover significant sites such as the children's park, the beach on Korotkevich Street, and the bridge on Shklovskaya Street in the district center. Construction of a patriotic club will proceed. The agrotown of Smolyany will undergo transformation in preparation for the district festival-fair honoring rural workers.
Driven by Public Requests
– Local authorities are conducting extensive informational and explanatory work with residents to engage them in implementing the objectives of the Year of Improvement, – stated Igor Urban, Chairman of the Lepel District Council of Deputies. – We aim for the residents of our area to take pride in their history. To that end, a monumental memorial is being erected in the village of Borovka in honor of the cadets and commanders of the local infantry and mortar schools who bore the brunt of the heavy fighting in 1941.
A beach is also required in Borovka: during the summer, more than a hundred people visit Lake Shchibot daily for recreation. Preparatory work is underway to grant official status to this informal recreational site. The lakebed has been cleared, waste collection bins have been installed, along with changing facilities and other infrastructure improvements, all funded through self-taxation contributions.
To minimize heavy manual labor, the district has acquired a road sweeping machine and a municipal vacuum cleaner. Maintenance is now easier and faster, allowing us to redeploy freed-up personnel to other areas of work.
