Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Vyacheslav Durnov, during the discussion of the results of local authorities' work at an extended on-site meeting of the Presidium of the Council of the Republic in Shumilino, emphasized the importance of issues related to appeals from citizens and legal entities. He noted that work with the population is a priority and is under constant control, and all actions of state bodies are carried out in accordance with current legislation.
According to Vyacheslav Durnov, decisions made by local authorities are people-oriented and based on direct dialogue. In the first nine months of 2024, more than 28,000 appeals were received by local executive and regulatory bodies, which is 9.5% higher than the figures for the same period in 2023.
As part of work with the population, personal receptions of citizens and representatives of legal entities are held, including on-site events. Citizens actively resolve their issues on the ground, while deputies of local councils play an important role in this process by participating in monthly receptions and meetings with the public.
The main issues concerning residents are related to the repair and maintenance of the housing stock, as well as the street road network. Restoring road surfaces requires significant budget expenditures, and repair plans are also developed taking into account citizens' appeals.
In 2024, the construction of 41 iron removal stations is planned in the region to provide the population with high-quality drinking water. Vyacheslav Durnov noted that transferring water supply and sewerage facilities currently on the balance sheets of agricultural organizations to specialized organizations is a complex task. In this regard, he proposed considering the possibility of legislatively simplifying the transfer process for these facilities without formalizing legal documents, which is practically impossible under current conditions.
Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova supported the initiative to transfer the iron removal stations, emphasizing that their maintenance should be carried out by qualified specialists to avoid deterioration of the facilities' condition in the future.
