The venue near the Sports Palace was extremely crowded today. In Vitebsk, the annual exhibition-sale of products from regional educational institutions “Vosenskī karagod” (“Autumn Circle”) attracted residents and guests of the city with its bright colors, aromas, and abundance.
“We are pleased to gather at our exhibition-fair, which has long become a tradition. I am grateful to educational institutions for effectively presenting the education system today, on the eve of Teachers’ Day. I wish school students the opportunity to carefully explore the venues and familiarize themselves with college programs, so that they may later make an informed career choice,” welcomed the guests Dmitry Khoma, Head of the Main Department of Education of the Regional Executive Committee.
Vegetable and fruit-and-berry products, seedlings, and tree and shrub saplings – all that autumn has to offer could be viewed at the fair and purchased at reasonable prices.
Agricultural products were presented by colleges from all regions of the Vitebsk Region. The Vitebsk State Agrarian-Technical College brought potatoes of the “Manifest” and “Colomba” varieties, cabbage, carrots, beets, decorative plant saplings, and fresh greens.
“We have substantial capacity for cultivating our own produce, including vegetables and grain crops. The college campus features a greenhouse area where we grow tomatoes, several varieties of bell peppers, and other crops. The students work under the guidance of instructors,” explained Anfisa Fadeeva, Master of Vocational Training at the college.
The Glubokoye State College brought grain, potatoes, selected vegetables – cabbage, carrots, pumpkins, baked goods, as well as bedding sets sewn by the students themselves. The Glubokoye delegation also impressed visitors with a particularly abundant cranberry harvest.
“The cranberries produced an exceptional yield this year – large and fully ripe; we even collect them in potato sacks,” noted Lyudmila Tsyrkina, Master of Vocational Training.
Freshly prepared potato pancakes (draniki), handmade sausages, and shashlik from the Vyzhava State Vocational-Technical College were in high demand, as were the hot, fragrant “Vyzhava-style fish soup,” buns, sour cream cakes, and curd pies.
The Gorodok State Agrarian-Technical College brought mainly agricultural products.
– Every professional who has dedicated their career to agriculture must understand how grain and vegetables grow, and the effort required to produce bread. Therefore, starting from their first year, our students are engaged in agricultural work, – explained Yuri Sorochinsky, mechanical engineer at the college.
Secondary vocational educational institutions of the region also presented items made of fabric, wool, straw, wicker, clay, wood, and metal, crafted by students and teachers, and delighted guests with freshly baked goods of every taste.
Institutions recognized at the regional stage of the republican review of innovative and technical creativity among students and staff of educational institutions were ceremonially presented with well-deserved awards at the event. The highlight of the occasion was a concert featuring the region’s finest children’s creative ensembles.
