The "direct line" with the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, received a standard set of inquiries regarding housing and communal services, road conditions, neighborly disputes, municipal improvement, and more. However, there was one pleasant distinction – the dialogue between the regional head and residents both started and concluded with words of thanks.

The first call originated from Vitebsk. The caller highlighted substantial improvements in the city on the Western Dvina, noting that it has become more attractive and comfortable, attributing these changes, as he stated during the "direct line", to the achievements of the current leadership team at the regional and city levels.

– I take an active stance in life. Like you, Alexander Mikhailovich, I graduated from the Vitebsk State Veterinary Academy. I remain deeply concerned about all developments in my native city, which I hold dear. It is evident that you too are dedicated to the well-being of our shared home. Wishing you success in your demanding work, – the man remarked.

Alexander Subbotin expressed gratitude for the positive evaluation of the authorities' work and stated the objective – to establish the Vitebsk Region as the leading region in Belarus.

A total of 24 inquiries were submitted via the "direct line", with the majority originating from Vitebsk. Specifically, residents of buildings at Frunze Street, nos. 116 and 114, and Mira Street, no. 24, reported water leaks in their apartments. Due to persistent dampness, mold had developed along the walls. One caller, a father raising a child with disabilities, requested the installation of a ramp to facilitate taking his son outdoors, while a mother of two young children residing on Gagarin Street asked for a bench and sandbox in the courtyard. Additionally, residents of homes at Lokomotivnaya Street, no. 5, and Pravdy Street, no. 66, raised concerns regarding issues with the hot water supply.

– The water running from the kitchen faucet is nearly boiling, whereas in the bathroom it is ice-cold, – explained the resident of Pravdy Street. – We have contacted numerous authorities, yet the temperature remains unchanged.

The regional head directed that all these matters be placed under the supervision of Gennady Sabynich, Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, and Yuri Dyadilo, Head of the Main Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Regional Executive Committee.

– The appeals heard once again exposed our shortcomings. Quite a lot has been done in the Vitebsk region under the implementation of the "Comfortable Housing and Favorable Environment" program, but some deficiencies still remain. We will try to fix them as soon as possible, – emphasized Yuri Dyadelo.

Residents of Orsha, Postavy, Senno, Horadok, Polotsk, and Chashniki districts also addressed various issues to the head of the region. All complaints will be reviewed, and people will receive answers. Some problems were resolved even during the "direct line." For instance, a resident of the agrotown Lukoml in the Chashniki district voiced a request not to locate a waste processing facility near their settlement. As it turned out, local authorities have already rejected this option. However, the second issue – repairing the road – still needs to be addressed.

In summarizing the results of the "direct line," Alexander Subbotin noted that residents of the regional center are more active and demanding, which is why they make more calls. In rural districts, however, people tend to rely more on themselves, although there are plenty of problems everywhere.

– But overall, all of them are solvable. Perhaps not as quickly as we would like. There are also complex issues that require court proceedings. We cannot bypass legislation. Perhaps someone at the local level does not fully see the problem either. And, for example, a house that requires urgent repair is placed in the middle of the queue. I believe this is precisely why we conduct "direct lines" and public receptions – to identify these problems and resolve them as quickly as possible. Moreover, I strive to listen to people not only on officially scheduled dates but also at other times, during trips around the region, – emphasized the head of the region.
