This Monday, graduates of schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, and cadet schools took the first centralized exam.
The examination marathon began with student-chosen subjects. In the Vitebsk region, the CE and CT were conducted simultaneously at four locations. For example, at the Vitebsk State Technological University, where a total of more than 2,400 applicants registered this year, organizational commission deputy chairman Ekaterina Goncharova reported.
— There is the highest turnout for subjects such as mathematics, chemistry, biology, and foreign languages, she explained. — Specifically, about 240 people will take the math exam, as many need it for admission.
Even an hour before the exam, classes accompanied by teachers were actively approaching the university buildings to present their documents and find the required classrooms without rushing. Although it is difficult to avoid nervousness on such a day, almost all the students were focused on success.
— I am in high spirits, I will manage, after all I have been preparing for a whole year, said Polina Semyonova from Vitebsk Secondary School No. 31 named after V. Khoruzhaya. The girl was taking the chemistry exam. She plans to enroll in the therapeutic faculty of the medical university under a targeted training program.
— I am taking the math exam, I am fairly confident in my abilities, shared Alexander Sochnyov from the Vitebsk Cadet School. — I prepared, attended elective classes, reviewed my notes. I am going to the exam with a calm mind.
The cadet dreams of continuing his studies at the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School named after V. Margelov.
Chairman of the State Control Committee of the Vitebsk Region Vladimir Godyatsky, who heads the regional commission overseeing the preparation and conduct of the admissions campaign, emphasized:
— Students should rely solely on their knowledge and not bring any information devices into the classroom. Our controllers are working at each testing center; yesterday we inspected all classrooms, so we are ready to ensure a safe and fair examination for students and applicants.
Vladimir Hodyatski noted that medical personnel, law enforcement agencies, and control commissions are prepared for the CE and CT to proceed under normal conditions.
— We are administering centralized testing and the centralized exam simultaneously, but through separate streams, — he stated. — This year introduces a new provision: reserve days have been allocated for candidates who violate regulations and are disqualified. However, these individuals will subsequently be eligible to take the exams only for admission to colleges.
The Chairman of the Control Commission of the Vitebsk Region acknowledged that he still recalls his own graduation exams, despite many years having passed:
— Certainly, there were no such centralized procedures back then; we took exams quite straightforwardly: we would arrive at school, write an essay, or draw tickets and provide answers. To be honest, I was not particularly anxious—I performed well academically, so everything seemed quite manageable for me. I took my exams at Secondary School No. 30 on Gagarin Street.
According to Vladimir Hodyatski, the grades current graduates receive on the CE do not matter, as the most important exam lies ahead: how life will unfold.
— This is undoubtedly connected to strong academic performance, but it is far more important to maintain confidence, set clear objectives, and strive to achieve them, — he clarified.
