Vitebsk has joined the all-republican campaign "Together with Art"
The event is dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from German-fascist invaders and the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
The venue was the Vitebsk State Music College named after I.I. Sollerinsky. The event is organized by the Youth Theatre of Variety Arts with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus. Its goal is to inform about the contribution of the Belarusian people, cultural figures, and artists to the struggle and liberation of our country from occupiers, and to pay tribute to the memory of war participants.
The solemn opening began with a performance by the wind orchestra of the music college under the direction of Igor Koshelev. The event took place in an open dialogue format: actors of the variety theatre not only performed thematic pieces but also shared stories about their close relatives who survived the terrible events of the war.
— My grandmother was 15 years old when the Germans took her prisoner. She always found it difficult to speak of the occupiers' atrocities, and at the end of every story she would repeat: cherish peace, — said the soloist of the Youth Theatre, Ekaterina Shumskaya.
In addition to the concert, all attendees could view thematic exhibitions located in the foyer of the educational institution. The Vitebsk Regional Museum named after M.F. Shmyryov presented the exhibitions “Partisan Formations of the Surazh Partisan Zone” and “We Conquered the Sky”, while the regional history museum told about the patriots of the Vitebsk region. Notably, every location in Belarus hosting the event provides an exhibit that reflects the scale of the military tragedy on their native land. From the northern region, a painting titled “Vitebsk. Victory Square. Monument to the Liberators, Partisans, and Underground Fighters” was sent to the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.
During the republican campaign “Together with Art”, artists of the Youth Theatre will hold more than 30 dialogue platforms across the country. The next meeting will take place on April 30 in Lepel and Dokshitsy.
