Подготовку и проведение Форума регионов Беларуси и России обсудили в облисполкоме

Miory Regional Executive Committee

As noted by the Head of the Region Alexander Subbotin, it is a great honor for the Vitebsk Region to host such a large-scale event, and it must be held at a high level. It is also important that thanks to the forum, the region’s infrastructure will be improved, and all improvements will remain for the residents.

Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov stated that a delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, which had visited Belarus and inspected the venues for the upcoming forum, highly appreciated the proposed concept of the event and its simultaneous hosting in three cities.

The forum will take place on June 26 and 27. Presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko are expected to participate. A large number of guests are anticipated, including regional heads from Belarus and Russia. The program includes exhibitions, a plenary session, and the work of nine sections.

Many venues in Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk will be utilized. All of them will be thematic. In particular, an exhibition of equipment from industrial enterprises of Belarus and Russia will be hosted on Freedom Square in the regional center. Around the "Vitebsk" concert hall, the regions of both countries will showcase their potential in folk achievements. Near the Summer Amphitheater, an exhibition project will be dedicated to innovative development – a topic that will be discussed at the forum. A thematic area featuring the cuisines of Belarus and Russia will attract attention. Craftsmen will set up workshops on Zamkovaya and Suvorova streets. Various spectacular events will take place. An engaging discussion will take place during the meetings of thematic sections. For instance, at JSC "Vitebskie Kovry", the focus will be on innovative development in the light industry. At the "Polimir" plant of JSC "Naftan", representatives of Russian and Belarusian business will discuss innovations in the industrial complex. Other topics will also be raised within the framework of cooperation in various sectors, – explained Angelika Nikitina, Deputy Chairwoman of the Regional Executive Committee.

Angelika Nikitina also noted that the signing of new agreements is planned at the forum. To date, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee has concluded 28 cooperation agreements with Russian regions. Five applications have already been submitted by the Russian Federation for the upcoming forum, specifically from the Kemerovo Region, Sverdlovsk Region, and Karelia.

At the meeting, details were discussed regarding the progress of construction works, urban improvement, the readiness of hotels and catering facilities to accommodate a large number of guests, and the organization of the cultural program.

It so happens that several key events will take place simultaneously: the Forum of Regions, the 1050th anniversary of the founding of Vitebsk, the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the regional center, followed by the "Slavic Bazaar". Intensive work lies ahead. However, we must not relax or reduce our pace in the future either. This will benefit the Vitebsk region and the country as a whole, – emphasized Alexander Subbotin.
