Food on board, mushroom of immortality, field post, call to the past, wonder town: more than 60 youth projects are presented at the regional round of the republican youth project “100 Ideas for Belarus”.

The Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education became the youth territory of innovations and initiatives. At the regional round of the competition, their developments were presented in ten categories: “Energy, including nuclear energy, and energy efficiency”, “Agro-industrial technologies and farming”, “Industrial and construction technologies”, “Healthcare (medical technologies, pharmacy, bio- and nano-industry)”, “Chemical technologies, petrochemicals”, “Information and communication technologies”, “Ecology (rational nature management and deep processing of natural resources)”, “National security and protection against emergencies”, “Society and social sphere”, “Best business idea”.

– Thirteen years ago, at the national level, the correct decision was made to implement the youth project “100 Ideas for Belarus”. Initiatives of young innovators must be supported by the state and local authorities. Each presented development deserves special attention and professional recommendations, – noted the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina. – For me, the development of our region in terms of innovation, high-tech capabilities, and new breakthrough ideas is important. Projects presented at the regional stage are interesting; some require further refinement and economic impact calculation, but there are also fully ready products that can already be implemented at enterprises and organizations today. Together with the Economic Committee of the Regional Executive Committee, we will be able to refine these innovative products and implement them at least at the district level, since there are many patriotic projects dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, regional development, tourism potential, and agricultural.

Students Anna Zagorskaya and Vasilina Volodzkina of Moskhan Secondary School named after A. Gorovets in the Sennan District developed a recipe for bread using the chaga mushroom. According to the young innovators, this product, owing to its beneficial properties, will be suitable for individuals with allergies, those on a diet, or vegetarians.

– Chaga grows on birch trees. We found out that such a recipe exists, but it is not widely used in Belarus, – Anna Zagorskaya explained. – Initially, we baked bread incorporating this mushroom, then began experimenting by preparing jam and marmalade. The initial trials were conducted at home, after which we presented the concept at school. Subsequently, we were invited to the BelExpo forum in Minsk.

Students Artem Billey and Darya Rusak of Osveya Secondary School in the Verkhnedvinsk District presented a project for establishing a summer tourist camp in the urban-type settlement of Osveya.

– The Verkhnedvinsk District was one of the hardest-hit areas of the Vitebsk Region during the Great Patriotic War. The primary campsite in the urban-type settlement of Osveya is a clearing adjacent to a historic park. It was selected due to its proximity to historically significant sites, including the ruins of the Shadurski Palace and the execution site of the Osveya Ghetto, among others. The project also encompasses hiking activities across five distinct routes. The camp will accommodate 10 to 15 students from grades 5 through 9 who wish to complete these routes and contribute to the development of their homeland. Applications have already been received from the Braslav District, – the participants reported.

Student Kirill Roznovsky of Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 3 named after A. Pushkin presented the project "Food Overboard". He proposes utilizing food waste from the cafeteria of an educational institution as a source of renewable energy.

Jury members will announce the names of the winners advancing to the republican final of the "100 Ideas for Belarus" project today during the awards ceremony.

The tour is organized by the Regional Committee of the BRSM, with the support of the Main Administration for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs, the Economics Committee, the Main Administration for Education of the Regional Executive Committee, JSC "Minsk Watch Factory", and JSC "Belagroprombank".
