Fleet replenishment will enable maximum optimization of operations upon completion of the centralization of the Emergency Medical Service of the Vitebsk Region.
– The modernization of the emergency medical service in the Vitebsk Region is ongoing. A total of 45 vehicles have been purchased this year: 12 through the Development Bank and 33 through centralized procurement by the Ministry of Health, – reported Viktor Gomonov, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care, to media representatives. – Nearly 80% of the regional vehicle fleet has been renewed. This will increase the responsiveness and quality of call handling, and will significantly improve service for rural residents. The service is currently undergoing centralization; this year, an inter-district emergency medical center was established in Polotsk, which includes the Novopolotsk station and departments in Lepel, Rossony, Verkhnedvinsk, and Ushachi. The entire vehicle fleet in the Polotsk region has already been updated. Rural residents have also felt this significant benefit: in case of need, they are sent directly to city and regional facilities for specialized medical care, bypassing central district hospitals. Such centralization allows for oversight of ambulance usage and improves logistics in patient transportation. Bypassing central district hospitals, patients, for example, with acute coronary insufficiency, myocardial infarction, or acute cerebrovascular disorder, arrive at specialized high-tech medical centers where they can receive immediate assistance.
Assembly of Belarusian-made vehicles, explained the head of the service, takes place at the "Brestmash" plant, after which they are supplied to MAZ for conversion into ambulances. The Minsk Automobile Plant carries out these works jointly with its subsidiary "Kupava". They have significantly improved in terms of quality and comfort for both service personnel and the public. Through the Ministry of Health's centralized procurement, modern portable equipment for equipping vehicles has been acquired – ventilators, ECG recorders, defibrillators, and other devices.
On that day, the vehicles were dispatched to their respective regions, with a portion remaining in service in Vitebsk. Next year, the procurement of an additional 36 vehicles for servicing the region's population is planned.
It should be noted that the Vitebsk Region currently operates 113 ambulance units and 147 vehicles.
