Около миллиарда рублей будет вложено в обновление Витебской областной больницы

Miory Regional Executive Committee

Approximately 1 billion rubles will be invested in the modernization of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital, Alexander Subbotin, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told journalists during a visit to the healthcare facility.

According to him, the modernization will cover existing facilities and also involve the construction of new ones. In particular, this refers to a surgical building, where construction work began a month ago. It will be an eight-story building with an admissions department. The complex will include a patient diagnostic unit and 19 operating rooms. Surgeons will be able to perform high-tech procedures of various specialties there, including neurosurgery, traumatology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular and endovascular surgery, among others. The facility will be connected to the main building by a passage on the second floor, Alexander Subbotin said:

- We were the last of the regions to join the hospital modernization project. However, we will strive to create one of the best medical centers in the country, equipped with the most advanced technologies and equipment, and staffed with highly qualified professionals. We have all the resources required for this. This facility will house not only a hospital but also a research center and medical university departments. Ideally, we aim to consolidate under the hospital's umbrella all key elements – specialist training, a research center, clinical services, and innovation deployment. Most importantly, we intend to create comfortable conditions for every individual who comes here to work or receive treatment.

Construction activity will pick up momentum in the near future. The facility is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year, with full commissioning planned for spring 2025. The total investment volume for the entire modernization project will amount to approximately 1 billion rubles.

The implementation of the project will serve as a powerful stimulus for the development of healthcare in the region and will also attract new specialists, believes Evgeny Matussevich, Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital:

- The opening of the new building will create new job positions. For example, we will require only 20 intensive care specialists, not to mention other specialists – physicians and mid-level medical personnel. Staff training has already begun.
