The Day of the Vitebsk Region is taking place today at the 6th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, reports the Telegram channel "Vitebsk Region. Officially".

More than 10 regional enterprises are presenting their products:

Vitebsk concern "Meat-Dairy Products", Verkhnedvinsk Cheese and Butter Plant, Polotsk Dairy Plant, "Lepel Meat Processing Complex" branch of the Vitebsk Meat Packing Plant, "Vityba" Confectionery Factory, "Naftan" Plant, "Polotsk-Glassfiber" Enterprise, textile producer 'Orsha Flax Combine'.

On November 7, the Vitebsk Region presented its export and investment potential, reflecting the key industries of the region, informed Konstantin Cherny, First Deputy Chairman of the Economics Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee:

— These sectors include petrochemicals, production of composite and electrical insulation materials, meat and dairy products, the food industry, flax cultivation and processing, and logistics. These sectors are developing successfully in China; therefore, during the exhibition, we discussed with our Chinese counterparts matters of cooperation under the new economic conditions currently shaping the global landscape.

Konstantin Cherny noted that 12 enterprises from the northern region, as well as the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) "Vitebsk", where 54 residents operate representing the main spheres of activity of the region, brought their presentations to the exhibition:

— Given the theme of the Import Forum, where leading global companies are presented, we are guiding our enterprises to seek modern technological solutions and equipment, as well as to apply new payment and logistics methods, where our Chinese partners have accumulated considerable experience. I would also note that the Vitebsk Region has established good relations with the Jiangxi, Heilongjiang, Shandong, and Guizhou provinces, as well as the demonstration zone for interregional cooperation between China and the SCO. Only in the current year have we signed 13 documents covering issues of developing sister-region ties, cooperation in scientific, technical, ideological, youth, and educational spheres, as well as agreements between enterprises. Representatives of the Vitebsk Region actually travel to China or host Chinese partners on a monthly basis.

The exhibition stands operated throughout the duration of the event. The regional delegation was led by Alexander Subbotin, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee:

— Our Chinese partners are interested not only in trade or purchasing our products, but discussions are already underway concerning joint scientific and educational programs and the establishment of a technology transfer center. This came as somewhat unexpected to us, but I consider it to represent the next stage in our mutual relations.

Participation in the exhibition was aimed at specific goals, added Konstantin Cherny. In particular, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee signed a Memorandum on cooperation regarding the establishment of an Industry Park in Qingdao City (Shandong Province). The objectives of the Industry Park include representing the interests of Vitebsk Region enterprises in China, facilitating the promotion of their products, identifying potential partners, and developing payment and logistics arrangements. On the Chinese side, specialists experienced in handling Belarusian goods are engaged to assist with customs clearance, certification, marketing on the Chinese market, and the implementation of e-commerce solutions. Such services are currently in particularly high demand among Belarusian enterprises.

Konstantin Cherny also highlighted the growing interest of Belarusian business representatives in China:

— For manufacturers in the Vitebsk Region, the Chinese market is becoming increasingly promising. Export growth to PRC regions is accelerating. This is confirmed by the following data: in the current year, our shipments have increased by 1.4 times compared to the first eight months of 2022, and by more than five times compared to 2018. A total of 25 regional enterprises are engaged in export activities.
