Miory Regional Executive Committee
“The meeting place cannot be changed,” jokes the newest young employee of JSC “AMKODOR-KEZ” about his workplace. In recent years, the plant has firmly secured top positions among the core enterprises of the Tolochin District and has become a highly sought-after workplace for young people.
In the production shop, we meet Anastasiya Medvedskaya and Ivan Blagodarov. They are former classmates and graduates of Kokhanovskaya Secondary School. Both have been working at the plant for a year now. The young woman graduated from Vitebsk Technological University and returned to the plant as a planning economist. Ivan joined the plant as an engineering technologist after graduating from the Belarusian-Russian University. Within a year, he was promoted to Head of the Design Department:
— I am glad they believed in me, although I was worried about how I would manage. The mentoring support from senior colleagues helped. The work is interesting, and there is plenty of new to look forward to. It is great that our town has such a facility — it is better to live and work in one’s hometown. The young people’s interest in employment at the plant did not arise out of nowhere. Children from across the district regularly visit the plant for educational tours. Many of them have relatives working here who share their insights on the company’s prospects. The children of plant employees are even luckier. Students from grades 3 through 11 receive a monthly scholarship equal to one base unit for good academic performance (provided their quarterly average score is at least 9 points). At present, 12 “Amkodorchiki” receive this allowance — a local nickname for those expected to continue their families’ industrial traditions. Another young specialist, test driver Andrey Klimovich, joins the conversation, noting that everyone is well aware of the plant’s operations, prospects, and opportunities. He is also a local resident and was recently hired. The young man has set himself ambitious goals and plans to further develop his professional skills:
— The management provides opportunities for professional development, retraining, and acquiring related specialties. There are vivid examples of other plant employees who have built their careers from scratch. Plus, a comprehensive social package and a genuinely family-like atmosphere within the team. This attracts people, especially the youth. Therefore, I consider the plant a good place to start. What happens next depends on me; I just need to keep striving.
In the welding shop, we meet 18-year-old Andrey Alekhno. He has been here since August. Hailing from Kokhanovo, he graduated from the Orsha Polytechnic College with a qualification in electric arc and gas welding, the young man says about himself:
— I had choices on where to go. But I was lucky — there is a reliable enterprise in my area. Housing is not a concern for me — I live in my parents' house. The average salary is 1.5 thousand rubles, which is quite decent for a beginner in the profession. Working conditions are good. Look around: everything is tidy in the shop, and new modern equipment is available everywhere. I am satisfied.
Many know firsthand what the conditions at the plant are like, says Deputy Director Elena Podolitskaya:
— The President visited here, familiarized himself with the production facilities, and gave a positive assessment of what he saw. This spurred the youth's interest in the plant, and for us, it became an additional motivation in our work.
Deputy Director and Chief Engineer Denis Aleksandrov confirms:
— Alexander Lukashenko's visit last year largely predetermined the development trajectory of production. It concerned market demand for reclamation equipment. We emphasized this aspect in our subsequent work, significantly expanding our product range. Production volumes have also increased; our facilities are currently operating at full capacity. We strive to meet our targets and not let down our clients. Two major investment projects are scheduled for implementation. The first involves the production of a 100% domestically manufactured bulldozer, with prototype units already undergoing testing. The second will be implemented under the President-initiated "One District — One Project" program. An expansion of production capacities is planned, which will enable tripling the monthly output of equipment (up to 30 units) and creating new jobs. Demand for the plant's products is growing in both the domestic and Russian markets, making additional personnel highly necessary for the enterprise, Denis Alexandrov notes:
— It is important that our work on modernization and production development continues uninterrupted. For instance, a new excavator model is currently undergoing testing. It operates side by side with a comparable imported unit during the cleaning of reclamation channels and demonstrates reliable performance. Sanctions have prompted us to promptly shift procurement of essential components from Europe to Asia. We are actively developing relations with China. As a result, we have secured new reliable partners supplying high-quality and more cost-effective products. Europeans can only sympathize with themselves: there, political considerations take precedence over economic factors and the genuine interests of their own population.
