Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Igor Brylo participated in the ceremonial session.

– Each of you helps shape a part of our society. The foundation of knowledge, friendship, and unity instilled in every individual will undoubtedly yield positive results. It is undeniable that active and politically educated individuals must be present in a youth organization. Work on patriotic education, participation in creative competitions, and forums demonstrate that the Union of Youth is on the right track, – Igor Brylo noted.

What qualities should a youth leader possess? What is required for representatives of this generation to accurately analyze information and think critically? Which structures could assist the BRSOM in achieving this? These and other questions were posed to Igor Brylo by young people during an open dialogue format.

Speaking on the work of the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Union of Youth, First Secretary of the Regional Committee of the BRSOM Vladimir Babichev noted that the main events and activity directions of the organization are dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creativity. Among them are the regional youth forum "Youth for Peace and Creativity", the military-patriotic game "Zarnitsa. Northern Region", the regional patriotic marathon "Memory Autotrain", and the regional auto-marathon "85 Years Under the Sky of Vitebsk". The outcomes of the latter included the preparation of a video diary, the compilation of a map, and the publication of a book about the Vitebsk Region. Notably, the marathon continues its activities in September and is dedicated to the Day of People's Unity. Its launch took place in Vitebsk, and on September 11–12, the team of marathon participants will travel to district centers with informational and educational materials, 17 murals will be unveiled following the "Colors of the World" contest, and a new edition of the book about the Vitebsk Region will be presented.

The Regional Committee of the BRSOM pays special attention to the activities of student detachments, including the formation of student detachments from among minors, particularly teenagers undergoing individual preventive work, as well as those in socially dangerous situations.

– The Vitebsk Regional Headquarters of Student Teams has traditionally formed and dispatched student teams for employment within the territory of the Russian Federation and ensured the production and placement of a thematic billboard featuring the student pedagogical team “Phoenix” named after the Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Semenovich Azonchik in Vitebsk at 35 Moskovsky Avenue. Two billboards will be installed in the regional center, as well as in Polotsk and Orsha, during September, Vladimir Babichev stated.

Notably, within the framework of the Days of Youth at the Slavianski Bazaar, the Regional Committee of the BRSM presented Vitebsk with three street benches and a new branded bus stop pavilion.

– Student teams of the Vitebsk region participated in six republican labor projects: the youth production labor project “Atlant–2023”, the All-Belarusian youth construction site “City of Youth”, the medical labor project “Medicus”, the “Road of Opportunities” project, the production labor project “Tractorbuilder–2023”, and the cross-profile labor project “Polesie–2023” (Gomselmash), Vladimir Babichev noted. – We actively cooperate with public associations. Regular work is carried out on the repair and maintenance of memorials, monuments and obelisks commemorating military glory, as well as mass graves and burial sites of soldiers, partisans and underground fighters who perished during the Great Patriotic War. Under the republican project “Digital Star”, 28 such sites were digitized in 2023. Particular attention is given to providing targeted social assistance to veterans and non-working pensioners.

In highlighting achievements, Vladimir Babichev pointed out that four developments by representatives of the Vitebsk region won the “100 Ideas for Belarus” competition, and three projects were recognized as the best in the republican youth initiatives contest. The title “Student of the Year–2023” was awarded to Yaroslav Ivanov from VGTU, and Anna Kravtsova from the same university received the title “Second Vice-Miss of the Student Body of the Republic of Belarus–2023”.

Additionally, at the republican sports and mass festival for working youth “Olympia–2023”, the team of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the Public Association “BRSM” secured second place overall among 20 participating teams.

– The results speak for themselves. We are moving forward and do not rest on our achievements, – concluded Vladimir Babichev. – We have much to improve, devise, and implement. And for this we have everything we need – a peaceful, beautiful, independent country.
