A new site of the broiler production facility near the village of Kurino has been opened at the Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm in the Vitebsk District.
The broiler meat production facility comprises 14 chicken houses constructed using energy-efficient materials (each designed to house 48 thousand broiler chicks). The site employs a floor-rearing technology for chicks, is equipped with modern high-quality technological equipment, and is situated at a significant distance from other poultry facilities of the farm. This arrangement ensures biological safety of production in accordance with the "all-in-all-out" protocol. "Floor rearing represents a more advanced stage in the development of poultry farming. All major enterprises are following this path, while cage systems have already been prohibited in many countries. Birds kept under floor conditions do not experience stress, which results in environmentally friendly, tasty, and high-quality meat," stated Alexey Kirnoz, Deputy General Director of the poultry farm.
The design capacity of the facility is 11.5 thousand tonnes of poultry meat in live weight annually. Additionally, 27 new jobs have been created on-site, including positions categorized as highly productive.
"We likely would not have ventured on such extensive modernization of our enterprise without state support. In particular, this concerns the 'Agrarian Business' program for 2021–2025. Thanks to this program, substantial compensation is currently provided—25 percent of the capital expenditure amount. This is highly significant, which is why we took this step: we modernized our production and continue to do so," noted Anna Norkus, General Director of the Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm. "At all stages of the program implementation, timely support was provided and there was always full understanding."
Such facilities will ensure full utilization of Broiler Plant No. 3. To operate at full capacity – across two shifts (currently only 1–1.5 shifts), the poultry farm needs to construct two more such facilities. According to the General Director, the uniqueness of the facility lies in the technology itself – feeding, ventilation, lighting, and heating systems. Everything operates automatically. "All information is displayed on the central control panel for the dispatcher and security officer – all 14 poultry houses covering a territory of nearly a kilometer, where today the worker can see everything happening inside. This is also accessible via the mobile phones of specialists. From home, they can monitor the process and identify any issues. The facility will generate additional revenue and profit, as well as opportunities for further development," Anna Norkus emphasized.
The construction of a new site for the broiler plant near Kurino continued the factory's large-scale development plan under the state program "Agrarian Business" for 2021–2025. This program aims to modernize production, increase capacity, and reduce costs.
Construction of the plant site began in August 2022 and was completed ahead of schedule – within one year, saving approximately 40% of the allocated funds (the initial timeline was 25 months). According to the project estimate documentation, the cost amounted to BYN 118.7 million, with primary financing provided through credit funds.
"This is a significant facility not only for the Vitebsk Region but for the entire country. It serves as a clear example and benchmark for how, under these challenging conditions, one should first construct such major facilities, and second, how it was built in half the time. Importantly, over 40% of the planned budget for this facility has been saved. This demonstrates how projects should be constructed by carefully managing finances and maintaining a prudent approach at every stage: from design to final construction. Attention to detail everywhere leads to success like this," said Alexander Subbotin, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. He also wished the enterprise continued steady progress, surpassing expectations and impressing everyone in its development.
Following the ceremonial opening of the site, event participants visited the new production facilities and familiarized themselves with the poultry rearing technology.
JSC "Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Farm", the largest producer and processor of poultry meat in the northern region, continues to hold leading positions in crop production and dairy farming. Currently, the number of employees at this multi-sector agro-industrial enterprise exceeds 4,000.
Under the State Program "Agricultural Business" for 2021–2025, the enterprise has invested more than Br 300 million. The facility has completed construction and commissioned slaughter and processing units for poultry and cattle, a seed drying and sorting line at the Yanovichy Agrocomplex, and Broiler House No. 3.
