On September 29, the district holidays will be launched in Sharokovshchyna – they will take place across all regions. The results of the agricultural year, accompanied by the recognition of production leaders, will be summarized on the eve of celebrating the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers in November at the main concert hall "Vitebsk" in the regional center.
This concept, piloted last year, will also be implemented this year. This was reported by Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, at a meeting of the regional headquarters for the preparation and organization of "Dazhynak".
At a working meeting with the participation of the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin and the Assistant to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Igor Brylo, September 29 was approved as the launch date for "Dazhynak" in all district centers, and the overall concept of honoring rural workers was also endorsed.
“The holidays in the regions will take place over a period of one to one and a half months,” Vladimir Terentyev explained. “The regional leadership will visit all district centers. This will give us the opportunity to thank as many worthy rural workers as possible. Moreover, the final event on the eve of their professional holiday will take place in a comfortable, truly festive atmosphere.”
Regional-level “Dazhynki” have been held in the Vitebsk region since 2009, and Sharokovshchyna is the 15th district center to host this large-scale festival. Among the landmark facilities being renovated for the festival-fair are Secondary School No. 1 in the urban-type settlement of Sharokovshchyna, where major repairs, equipping classrooms with new furniture, and grounds improvement are nearing completion. The school will feature a comprehensive sports complex including a children’s play area, football, volleyball, and basketball courts, as well as an outdoor workout facility.
The Sharokovshchyna District Gas Supply Enterprise has also prepared for “Dazhynki”, having modernized its administrative building and commodity-material storage warehouses, and constructed a single-bay car wash and a shelter for automotive and tractor equipment.
Significant transformations have impacted the Sharkoushchyna District Electric Networks: the full reconstruction of the building complex, including the construction of a cash and accounting center, is nearing completion, alongside the reconstruction of 5.3 km of power lines replaced with cable and 1.8 km replaced with insulated conductors, the optimization of seven transformer substations, and the construction of three new enclosed substations.
A significant housing and social facility is a 40-unit residential building comprising exclusively rental apartments. These units are intended for allocation to young professionals working across various sectors.
The modernization of Sharkoushchyna District will not conclude here: the commissioning of a vehicular bridge over the Yanka River is scheduled for December 2023. In January 2024, the first building of the Aleksandrovsky Psychoneurological Boarding Home for Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities is expected to open; its renovation ensures the preservation of 150 jobs within the district. Construction of a second building is included in the plans. Additionally, project and cost estimate documentation for a sports and recreation complex on the site of the demolished bathhouse and laundry facility is currently under development.
Sharkoushchyna is undergoing beautification: extensive routine maintenance works are being carried out on buildings, small-scale architectural structures are being installed, parks and squares are being revitalized, and asphalt, paving stones, and curbstones are being laid. Examples of urban improvement can be seen throughout the area.
The ceremony honoring the district's leading agricultural workers is scheduled to take place in the main hall of the District Executive Committee. Representatives of construction enterprises and other organizations contributing to the development of the district center's infrastructure will undoubtedly receive due recognition.
The main stage, which will host concerts featuring regional artistic ensembles and a headline performer from among Belarusian pop music stars, is being erected adjacent to the District Culture Center building.
On September 29–30, festive zones—including commercial, interactive, and creative areas—will be set up in the most scenic and accessible locations of the urban-type settlement.
“Within two weeks, we must determine which streets will be designated as pedestrian zones during the festival,” Vladimir Terentyev instructed the members of the headquarters meeting. “It is crucial to carefully plan what engaging activities we will offer to attendees.”
It has already been decided that these will be the traditional sites of Vitebskhlebmprom enterprises, the Main Directorate of Education, the State Inspectorate for Road Safety, the Department of Internal Affairs, the Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and an exhibition of agricultural machinery. Trading stalls will be organized with the participation of outlets of the Vitebsk and Dokshitsy District Consumer Cooperatives (Raipo), as well as retail stores and catering establishments from Novopolotsk and Polotsk. Additional participants may be added.
– The modest and industrious community of Sharkovshchina deserves its own celebration, – Vladimir Terentyev concluded. – We must present this gift to the people and strive to ensure that the event is held in an organized and warm atmosphere, leaving both the residents of Sharkovshchina and their guests amazed and delighted.
