"Cherry Festival" took place in Glubokoye

Participants of the ethnic evening of the "Cherry Festival" in Glubokoye demonstrated their national culture and familiarized themselves with Belarusian traditions through songs, dances, and poetry. The ethnic evening "In the Cherry Orchard" gathered participants and spectators on the central square of the district center. To begin with, representatives of various diasporas and countries initiated dance introductions with creative collectives of the Glubokoye district. The locals established fraternal ties with guests from Russia, China, and other regions of Belarus.

Each participant of the ethnic evening presented their cultural traditions. Chinese students from Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov performed traditional songs and recited poetry. The delicate Chinese poetry required no translation, as every listener understood it in their heart. The young people learned about the berry festival at their alma mater and willingly accepted the invitation to take part in the celebration. They greatly enjoyed Glubokoye. Furthermore, they had an important mission – to taste the locally developed cherry variety, since in their homeland this berry has a completely different flavor.

A collective from Uvarovo in the Tambov region focused on folk songs, primarily those about cherries, as this berry holds a special place in their hearts. The city serves as the cherry capital of Russia, where a cherry festival is also held, albeit with a more gastronomic focus. The Uvarovo group, nicknamed "cherries" in Glubokoye, has for many years delighted their colleagues and friends with colorful costumes and vibrant creative performances.

Games and entertainment pleased not only the participants of the ethnic evening but also the spectators, who thanked them for the cheerful performance with warm applause. The hosts of the celebration demonstrated the true spirit of cherry hospitality and showed that the Glubokoye region warmly welcomes new friends.

Royal limousines, 11-meter trains, foreign delegations, cherry smiles – participants of the berry festival took part in a theatrical procession through the streets of Glubokoye.

The second day of the International Festival "Cherry Festival" in Glubokoye began with a theatrical procession. Prior to the start of the ceremonial parade near the cherry monument, couples who had celebrated their 5th and 10th wedding anniversaries, having tied the knot at this flagship event, were honored.

By tradition, the procession was headed by the Cherry Queen. She arrived before the guests in a luxurious white limousine and led the festival attendees behind her. This year, her royal attire was complemented by a train measuring 11 meters in length – a figure corresponding to the number of years the festival has celebrated.

Representatives of foreign delegations proceeded in the column toward the concert venue on the shore of Kagalnoye Lake. Longtime guests of the berry festival – beauties from the Russian town of Uvarovo, representatives of the Moldovan, Korean, and Dagestani diasporas, and students from China studying in Vitebsk. Guests from Zhlobin and districts of the Vitebsk region also joined the procession. Some of them attended the "Cherry Festival" for the first time, while others visit here regularly, not only for the sweet Glubokoye cherries but also for the atmosphere of friendship, brotherhood, and unity.

For instance, artisans from Sharkoushchyna, located just 25 km from the cherry capital of Belarus, annually add their own apple accent to the celebration – these garden fruits, say festival friends, harmonize well in color, taste, and beneficial properties. Representatives from Moldova arrived in national costumes, one of the elements of which are vests embroidered with cherries. In short, everyone strove to fit into the berry theme and align as closely as possible with the surroundings and the Glubokoye festival.
