As part of the XI International Economic Forum, the best enterprises, managers, and specialists of the Vitebsk Region, as well as the winners of professional skills competitions among young people, were ceremoniously awarded.
In 2023, regional ProfSkills Belarus professional skills competitions were held in secondary vocational education institutions across 21 competencies. The competition tasks required participants to perform work using modern tools, equipment, and industry-specific technologies, while adhering to ProfSkills Belarus standards. A total of over 80 students from secondary vocational education institutions took part in the competition, demonstrating strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The winners of the regional stage represented the Vitebsk Region at the final round of the competition on May 15–16.
– “Today we recognized the best of the best—young people who have achieved considerable success in their professional skills. They are talented and do not stop at what they have already accomplished. Such individuals will become outstanding professionals. They will secure new victories and accomplishments, bringing honor to both the region and the country as a whole,” stated Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.
Over two days, an international professional skills competition in the competencies of “Fashion Technology” and “Electrical Installation” was held at the forum venue, featuring students from colleges in the Vitebsk and Pskov regions. Specifically, Ilya Polyakov, a student of the Vitebsk State College of Electrical Engineering, was awarded a diploma of the first degree in the “Electrical Installation” category, while Vladislav Vorobyov from the Vitebsk State Industrial and Technological College received the same honor in the “Fashion Technology” category.
– “It is gratifying to note that representatives of the younger generation were the first to be called up for awards. The potential demonstrated today by our educational institutions in partnership with enterprises indicates that Vitebsk has a promising future and the region will continue to develop. Equally important is the fact that Vitebsk’s specialized competencies are currently very strong, providing us with real opportunities for their realization,” highlighted Anzhelika Nikitina, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.
Thirty-four products from 19 organizations in the region have been recognized as winners of the competition "Best Products of the Republic of Belarus".
Awards were presented to eight enterprises in the region that became laureates of the Prize of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee for achievements in the field of quality in 2022, as well as winners of the competition of the Vitebsk Regional Union of Employers for conferring the honorary titles "Best Manager of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" and "Best Specialist of the Year of the Vitebsk Region".
Summing up the results of the XI International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects", Angelika Nikitina emphasized that it was held in a broader format compared to the previous year. In 2024, organizers of the economic forum in Vitebsk plan to arrange presentation sites for enterprises from various countries alongside industrial enterprises of the northern region, enabling them to showcase their potential.
– There were more section participants than ever before. About 70 enterprises joined the international economic forum online. Topics of cooperation and integration were closely discussed. It is already evident today that there are specific intentions for cooperation regarding the supply of food and flax products, as well as agreements on the supply of Vitebsk lifting equipment. People communicated and exchanged contacts at various venues, – Angelika Nikitina noted.
This forum is organized not only for foreign economic activity and cooperation with regions of Russia, Asian countries, or China. There are many youth-oriented locations presented by educational institutions. This indicates that the Vitebsk Region is developing, and enterprises and organizations possess the competencies to enable young people to stay and work in the region.
Additionally, Vyacheslav Durnov presented participant diplomas in the XI International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects" in Vitebsk to the finalists of the regional and republican stages of the "100 Ideas for Belarus" competition.
