Within the framework of the XI International Economic Forum, an official delegation from the city of Arkhangelsk visited Vitebsk. During the visit, guests were given a tour of the "Dukhovskoye Roundabout", and negotiations on developing cooperation between the cities were held in the exhibition hall.

– This meeting underscores the importance of economic relations. Vitebsk and Arkhangelsk are connected by the history of their cities and countries, as well as cultural ties. Ideas, plans, and prospects for cooperation have already been defined, as there are many points of contact. In particular, this year Vitebsk and Arkhangelsk will simultaneously celebrate their city days. For this occasion, the delegations of the sister cities will visit the regional center and the northern region, – noted Nikolai Orlov, Chairman of the City Executive Committee.

Besides the fact that Vitebsk is the northernmost region of Belarus, while Arkhangelsk is considered the capital of the Russian Arctic, the cities share similarities in architecture and population size: 350,000 people live in the city on the Dvina River, and 360,000 in Arkhangelsk.

– Our ties are already quite strong and solid. Over the past one to two years, trade turnover between the Arkhangelsk Region and Belarus has grown several times over. We are actively interacting and continue to expand our partnership, developing economic and cultural ties, – emphasized Dmitry Morev, Head of the Urban Okrug "City of Arkhangelsk". – It is symbolic that our acquaintance with Vitebsk began during the XI International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects". A wide range of Belarusian-made goods are represented in Arkhangelsk, ranging from light industry products to food items. The delegation will study the products presented by manufacturers not only from the northern region, but from the entire country. Contacts have already been established with some enterprises, which will help develop economic cooperation, including in the acquisition of special equipment. I noted for myself that the sports sector is highly developed in the region, and we will also work in this direction, because children are our future.

During the ceremonial opening of the XI International Economic Forum, an agreement on cooperation between Vitebsk and Arkhangelsk was signed.
