In Vitebsk, the results of the civic-patriotic campaign "Memory Marathon" were announced. A time capsule – the symbol of the "Memory Marathon" campaign – was handed over by the cadet school to Gymnasium No. 5 of Vitebsk named after Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Lyudnikov.

At the regional student forum "Memory of the Past – a Step into a Peaceful Future," held at the Regional Palace of Children and Youth, the names of the winners of the civic-patriotic campaign "Memory Marathon," which launched this winter, were announced. The event was preceded by a presentation of interactive exhibition areas of museums at educational institutions in the Vitebsk region.

The civic-patriotic campaign "Memory Marathon" is dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creativity; its main goal is to foster civic and patriotic qualities among students, preserve historical truth and memory of the heroic past of the Belarusian people, as well as immortalize the names of notable fellow countrymen and defenders of the Fatherland.

Participants of the marathon include kindergarten children, schoolchildren, and students of secondary vocational education institutions. The campaign has sparked genuine interest among young people and a desire to engage with the history of their homeland. Within the framework of the regional stage, a comprehensive set of events on various thematic directions was held at educational institutions. During this period, dozens of research projects and video clips about fellow countrymen who defended our Motherland during the war were completed, tourist routes to sites of military glory were developed, and many other activities were carried out.

– "I would like to thank everyone for the work done over several months within the framework of the 'Memory Marathon' campaign," emphasized Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vyacheslav Durnov, addressing the attendees. – "These days, many words have been spoken about the importance of historical memory, but there can never be too many such words. Our people deserve for history and memory to endure. This is the foundation upon which our state is built. It is important that you also carry and preserve this truth. I sincerely wish you a peaceful sky, productive labor, and academic success. You must become qualified professionals so that our country continues to prosper."

The importance of preserving the names of heroes and the pages of war was highlighted by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region Vladimir Guk, the Chairman of the regional organization of the OO "Belarusian Union of Officers" Sergey Denisov, and the veteran of the search movement, member of the international association "People's Memory of the Defenders of the Fatherland" Larisa Brueva. Each of them wished the students and their mentors peaceful skies, good health, and success in all their noble endeavors. The distinguished guests are convinced that participation in the "Memory Marathon" will help schoolchildren study and experience the history of the Great Patriotic War more deeply.

– Today we are concluding the "Memory Marathon" and putting a final period on it, but not on the work we are carrying out, – noted the Head of the Main Directorate for Education of the Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Khoma. – When implementing the initiative in one of the city's educational institutions, the organizers of this marathon probably did not expect that after six months we would be holding a major regional event, given that the initiative was supported district by district. It is important that each of us remembers the price our grandfathers and great-grandfathers paid for peace. The future of our country and peace on our land depend solely on us.
