In the northern region, the "Forest Week" dedicated to the Year of Peace and Creativity will take place from April 15 to 22. During the campaign, more than three million new trees will be planted here. Forest farms have already prepared approximately 350 sites for establishing forest plantations covering a total area of over 600 hectares.

Alexander Izmailovich, Chief Forester of the Vitebsk State Forestry Enterprise, shared the details:

— Half of the forest areas established during the campaign will be created using selected planting material. The primary species for the new forest plantations will be European spruce, while mixed plantings, which offer greater resilience, will account for approximately 85 percent. In total, we restore around 4,500 hectares of forest annually. More than 3,500 hectares of this area are replanted with seedlings and seeds through direct human intervention. The remainder is achieved through natural regeneration.

Following the "Forest Week-2022" campaign, with the support of forest farm staff in the Vitebsk region, enthusiasts planted more than 3.5 million forest plants across a total area exceeding 600 hectares. The large-scale "green" cleanup was also carried out. Approximately 340 cubic meters of waste were cleared along forest roadsides, and 30 recreational areas were jointly improved. During the campaign, held in observance of the Year of Historical Memory, 20 memorial alleys were established and the same number of military burial sites were properly maintained.

This year, plans for "Forest Week" are equally extensive. Positive statistics from the State Forestry Enterprise indicate that volunteer participation continues to grow. In addition to traditional seedling planting, the current schedule includes clearing waste and debris totaling no less than 200 cubic meters, improving 20 recreational areas and over 50 military burial sites, and establishing 35 memorial alleys. By long-standing tradition, competitions among "Forest Week" participants will also be held. These include awards for the most active school and class, as well as various contests on social media.
