Miory District was formed on January 15, 1940, is located in the northwest of Vitebsk Oblast and the Republic of Belarus, bordering Braslav, Sharkovshchyna, Glubokoe, Polotsk districts, and the Republic of Latvia.

The area is 1780 square kilometers. Forests, predominantly spruce, pine, and mixed, occupy 20% of the district's total territory. "Chistaya Dubrava" in the Yazno rural council is a natural monument of republican significance.

Miory District is a corner of the Belarusian Lake District. The district has 96 bodies of water, including 83 lakes. The largest is Obsterne, with an area of 9.35 sq. km and a depth of up to 12 meters. The deepest is Sumovka (29 meters). Of the 16 rivers flowing through the district, the largest are the Western Dvina and its tributary, the Disna.

About 17% of the territory is occupied by swamps. The largest raised bog in Europe, "Yelnya," covers an area of 20,000 hectares. It is famous for remnants of post-glacial tundra. More than 30 species of plants and animals listed in the Red Book are preserved here. The "Yelnya" Republican Landscape Reserve is one of the most unique protected areas in Belarus. "Boloto-Mokh" is a hydrological reserve of republican significance.

As of January 1, 2023, the population of Miory District is 17,963 people. 9,300 people live in cities, including 7,900 in the city of Miory and 1,400 in the city of Disna. The rural population is 9,800 people.

Administratively, the district is divided into the city of Miory, the city of Disna, 9 rural councils, and 442 settlements.

Miory region can rightfully be called a quiet land of lakes, swamps, and forests. And yet, this perception is deceptive: our lands have never been bypassed by the turbulent events of history.

The industry of the Miory district is represented by large enterprises specializing in the production of meat and sausage products, concentrated feed, and bakery and confectionery products.

The metal sheet and tinplate production plant in Miory is the only producer of electrolytic tinplate and cold-rolled sheet in the Republic of Belarus, which will take a worthy place among the tinplate producers in the CIS and Europe. This investment project is one of the largest being implemented in the Vitebsk region.

The uniqueness of the new plant lies in the use of modern, energy-saving, and environmentally safe equipment and technologies that allow for the production of highly liquid, high-quality products with minimal costs.

The plant is built on a production site located in close proximity (within 1 km) to the city of Miory, Vitebsk region, Republic of Belarus. The total area of the production complex, located on a land plot of 40.2 hectares, is about 200,000 sq.m.

The mission of the Miory Rolling Mill is to produce competitive and best-in-class tinplate for consumers in Belarus, the CIS countries, Europe, Asia, and America.
