"Children in the Spotlight!": The Ministry of Emergency Situations campaign starts in the Vitebsk region on August 19

The Republican information and propaganda campaign of the Ministry of Emergency Situations "Focus on Children!" starts on August 19 and will last until September 13. The main goal of the campaign is to draw public attention to the problem of child injuries and deaths from external causes, including fires due to leaving them unattended. The campaign will be held in two stages. The first stage will last from August 19 to August 30. The main target audience at this stage will be parents, and the venues for events will be shopping malls and places selling children's goods (school bazaars, fairs). In departments with children's clothing in large shopping centers and other retail outlets, sets of children's firefighter turnout gear will appear on mannequins and hangers, and in stationery departments – fire extinguishers and autonomous fire alarms. All this merchandise will have tags with the slogan "For unattended children." Experts in child safety will be employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, who will talk about safety rules, help acquire not only school supplies but also invaluable knowledge, and as a pleasant bonus – hand out colorful brochures, booklets, memos, and "Tips from the Ministry of Emergency Situations for parents and children" to everyone. Also, rescuers will offer children to take the "Safety Exam." Participants will be given a special bracelet and a "Safety Diary" with tasks to be completed. As soon as they complete all the tasks, the examiners will put an appropriate mark in the "Safety Diary" and present the examinee with a "Certificate of Passing the Exam," which will serve as proof of the owner's solid knowledge in the field of safety. The second stage will last from September 2 to September 13. Rescuers will visit festive assemblies and conduct thematic "Safety Lessons" with children. Also, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will take part in parent-teacher meetings, where they will draw parents' attention to ensuring safe living conditions for children and teaching them safety rules at home and on the street. Activists of the Belarusian Youth Public Association for Rescue (BYPA) and other interested organizations will take part in the campaign.
