Information for owners of lifting cranes, elevators, and amusement rides operating outdoors and in high-temperature conditions

The Vitebsk Regional Department of the Department for Supervision of Safe Industrial Operations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus (Gospromnadzor) informs the owners of lifting cranes, elevators, and outdoor amusement rides operating in conditions of high temperatures.

High ambient air temperatures can negatively affect the operation of lifting equipment and amusement rides, therefore, owners and those carrying out work must pay attention to the following:

  • the grades of lubricating and hydraulic fluids used in the systems of lifting equipment must comply with the temperature conditions in which the equipment is operated;
  • ensure the temperature and humidity conditions for equipment operation as specified in the operating documentation; if it is impossible to ensure compliance with the specified conditions, the operation of the equipment must be suspended;
  • the condition of the sealing connections of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, which may loosen under the influence of high temperatures;
  • if possible, reduce the use of equipment during daylight hours (from 11 AM to 6 PM);

Conduct awareness training with personnel involved in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of outdoor lifting equipment and amusement rides to ensure work is carried out without harm to health.
