26 июля 2024 года проводится Единый день безопасности дорожного движения под девизом «Сел в машину - пристегни ремень»

On July 26, 2024, a Unified Road Safety Day will be held under the slogan "Got in the car - buckle up".

In order to prevent road traffic accidents with severe consequences, on July 26, 2024, a Unified Road Safety Day is held under the slogan "Got in the car - buckle up" (promotion of the use of passive safety devices (seat belts, helmets, child restraint systems)

The campaign, in addition to preventing road traffic accidents, promotes the use of seat belts and child restraint systems.

Many vehicle drivers complain that when they buckle up, they feel uncomfortable while driving and it hinders their ability to control the vehicle. But there are also those who, on the contrary, feel discomfort and insecurity when they are not buckled up. People who think about their safety begin to strictly follow the requirements of the Traffic Regulations. And when it becomes the norm, their actions become automatic.

An unbuckled driver, even in a minor traffic accident where the car has no serious damage, can sustain life-threatening injuries or become disabled.

According to clause 178 of the Traffic Regulations, the transportation of children in a passenger car equipped with seat belts must be carried out using:

child restraint systems that match the child's weight and height – for children up to five years of age;

child restraint systems that match the child's weight and height, or other devices (boosters, special seat cushions, additional seats) that allow the child to be safely fastened with the seat belts provided for by the vehicle's design – for children from five to twelve years of age.

It is permitted to transport children under the age of twelve without using the devices specified in the first part of this clause, if the child's height exceeds 150 centimeters.

It is prohibited to transport children in the front seat of a passenger car using child restraint systems that match the child's weight and height, with their backrest facing the windshield of the vehicle, if the front seat is equipped with an airbag, unless the frontal airbag mechanism is deactivated.

The use of not only so-called "child seats" but also other devices that allow a child to be safely fastened with standard seat belts is permitted.

As part of the Unified Road Safety Day, traffic police officers will primarily focus on violations of the Rules by drivers and passengers regarding the use of seat belts.

Please note that for this violation, according to Part 3 of Article 18.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, the driver may be fined up to 1 base unit. If the driver is repeatedly brought to justice within a year after being penalized for the same offense, the fine increases from 2 to 5 base units.

For violation of the rules for transporting children, in accordance with Part 6 of Article 18.13 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus, the driver is subject to an administrative penalty of a fine of up to 4 base units.
