On the inclusion in the length of service for the appointment of a pension of periods of military service in the territory of the Latvian and Estonian SSR
On April 15, 2024, the President of the Republic of Belarus issued Decree No. 149 "On Social Support for Certain Categories of Citizens".
The Decree provides for the right of citizens permanently residing in the Republic of Belarus to include periods of military service before January 1, 1992 in the territories of the Latvian SSR and the Estonian SSR in their general service record for pension assignment in the Republic of Belarus. The inclusion in the service record is made in cases where these periods of military service were not taken into account when assigning a pension in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Estonia.
The adoption of the Decree allows citizens to fully exercise their pension rights acquired during military service in the USSR and to increase their pension amount considering the period of military service.
Citizens who have periods of military service in the Latvian and Estonian SSRs before 1992 not included in their service record must apply to the labor, employment, and social protection authority (at the place of pension assignment) with an application for pension recalculation at the address: Komunisticheskaya St., Bldg. 8, Miory.
As provided for by the Decree, the pension recalculation due to the additional inclusion of military service periods in the service record will be carried out from the 1st day of the month following the month the application is filed.
