We invite you to participate in the international environmental campaign "Earth Hour - 2024"

On March 30, the annual public event "Earth Hour" will be held for the 16th time. All concerned individuals can take part in the event and turn off their lights for 1 hour from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM!

Turn off the lights for an hour – show your care for the planet!

Turning off the lights for an hour is very simple, but even such a symbolic action holds the potential to help the planet by changing your daily habits. Turning off the lights for an hour reduces harmful emissions into the Earth's atmosphere and gives every concerned individual an opportunity to contribute to energy conservation and the preservation of our planet's climate. The goals and objectives of the event are aimed at attracting public attention to issues of energy saving and ecology and are consistent with the republic's policy of increasing energy efficiency and fostering a culture of economy and thriftiness in society.

The Vitebsk region, like all of Belarus, is not standing aside. Annually, enterprises, institutions, and organizations join the event. Traditionally, educational and cultural institutions of the region take the most active part in the event. They organize drawing and poster contests, themed discos, informational lectures, and book and illustration exhibitions.

In support of the event, in Vitebsk and the Vitebsk region, the illumination of administrative buildings, decorative lighting of advertisements, outdoor lighting, and lighting of storage and utility rooms of educational, healthcare, and cultural institutions, as well as trade and industrial enterprises, will be turned off for one hour.

Residents and employees of organizations are joining the event. Since this is a voluntary action, people decide for themselves how many and which electrical appliances they will turn off. Turning off the lights for an hour is very simple. But behind this symbolic action lies the opportunity to help your planet.

For safety reasons, it is not recommended to turn off street lighting, aeronautical lights, and traffic lights.

How? For example, by using electricity and heat economically, treating water with care, and choosing to recycle paper and other materials, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
