Transport tax: cars and more

All vehicles registered with the traffic police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including mopeds, are subject to transport tax.

For reference: according to the Traffic Rules, a moped is recognized as a motor vehicle powered by an engine with a working volume of up to 50 cubic centimeters.

Until 2022, the tax rate for individuals was not established for other vehicles, and therefore, tax payment for such vehicles was not made. Since 2022, tax rates have been established both for vehicles of certain categories (e.g., passenger cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles) and for other vehicles, including vehicles for which there is no information about their type. The tax rate for other vehicles is set at **41 rubles per year**.

In 2023 (by November 15, 2023), the transport tax is paid for 2022, so the tax for mopeds is payable this year. **To apply for benefits** (e.g., for disabled persons, pensioners, as well as for stolen or hijacked vehicles), supporting documents should be submitted to the tax authority.
