A large-scale sociological study in the field of demography will be conducted in all regions of Belarus from July 1 to October 31.

This study is the second stage of a population survey conducted in 2017. It involved 10,000 respondents from all over the country aged 18 to 69. Now, about 6,000 participants from the first stage will take part.

The aim of the study is a comparative analysis of marital and family relations and family values, as well as the demographic behavior patterns of Belarusians. Special attention will be paid to relationships between parents and children, spouses, and intergenerational support.

The study will be conducted by the Center for Sociological and Political Studies of Belarusian State University. 150 interviewers will participate in the fieldwork.

Participants will be asked to answer questions in a specially designed questionnaire, under conditions of anonymity, concerning the main events and facts of their biographies, as well as the specifics of their households' functioning. The content of respondents' answers and personal information about them obtained during the survey will not be disclosed. Interviewers bear full responsibility for adhering to the confidentiality agreement regarding respondent data.

The obtained data will be analyzed by scientists: sociologists, economists, demographers, and medical professionals. In the future, this will allow for identifying the specific features of the Belarusian family's development, determining the factors influencing reproductive behavior and family relationships, conducting a comparative analysis of trends in the formation of marital and family relations in Belarus, CIS countries, and Europe, and developing scientifically substantiated recommendations for improving the state family and demographic policy in our republic.

The research is being conducted within the framework of the international technical assistance project "Strengthening the Scientific and Educational Potential of the Republic of Belarus in the Collection, Analysis, and Use of Demographic Data for the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals," which is being implemented with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The National Implementing Agency of the project is the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus.
